Thank you Councilman Dennis Zine!

The introduction of a light-rail line connecting the Harbor Area to the rest of Los Angeles received an important endorsement at a recent meeting of the Los Angeles City Council.

According to a story appearing on March 1 in The Daily Breeze, Councilman Dennis Zine openly called for a light-rail line linking the Harbor Area to the rest of the city. Here is a link to the story.

"Councilman Dennis Zine, who said it took him two hours to drive from the San Fernando Valley to Wilmington for the meeting, suggested that some kind of light rail is needed to connect the Harbor Area to the rest of the city, a concept Councilwoman Janice Hahn, who represents the harbor, has already endorsed."

Citizens for a Harbor Line would like to take this opportunity to thank Councilman Dennis Zine and Councilwoman Janice Hahn for taking a step in the right direction!

Bring A Light-Rail Line To San Pedro!

Citizens For A Harbor Line hereby issues a call to all members of the community (local activists, business owners, public officials, etc.) to support the development of a dedicated light-rail line that serves residents of the Harbor Area. The introduction of a light-rail line to San Pedro would help accomplish several goals:

reduce traffic
reduce air-pollution
alleviate congestion

While the Port's current Bridge to Breakwater Master Plan includes a potential long-range proposal to extend the MTA's blue or green line to San Pedro, it is the belief of this organization that more emphasis must be placed on providing adequate public transportation alternatives to residents of the Harbor Area.

It is for the reasons stated above that Citizens For A Harbor Line calls upon all public officials serving the Harbor Area to take the necessary steps to ensure the creation of a light-rail line to San Pedro by the year 2020, without simultaneously interfering with the development of any current MTA projects.
